Before Origin Revenue Cycle Management Service (“RCM”)

Before implementing Origin Healthcare Solutions’ Revenue Cycle Management service in 2008, Dr. Jeff Klein of Anesthesia Associates of Torrington, LLC in Torrington, CT felt he was on the right path with his practice. The office was fully staffed and he thought he was doing all he possibly could to make the most of the practice. He had claims going out and payments coming in. His practice was moving along at a steady pace.

Deciding to Make the Change

Then in 2007, Dr. Jeff Klein started to realize things were not going as well as they should.

Collections were low; only around 30% of his claims were paid within 30 days of the billing date. The number of unpaid claims was high. Something was missing in the billing processing and it was costing the practice money. All he knew was that he had to get his practice in order immediately.

First, Dr. Klein tried bringing in a consultant to raise his accounts receivables. He soon realized the consultant was not living up to the promise. He then decided it was time to turn to a billing service. Dr. Klein did not want to worry about the billing anymore. He did not want to deal with the stressors that go along with the billing aspect of the office; he just wanted to focus solely on providing care to his patients.

That is when he decided to turn to Origin Healthcare Solutions.

Handing Over the Reins

In February 2008, Anesthesia Associates of Torrington started using the Origin Revenue Cycle Management services to handle his medical billing. Dr. Jeff Klein handed over the reins to Origin to ease the workflow of the office and in turn, begin collecting more revenue.

Origin now handles most of the billing process. The services provided include:
· Posting his insurance and patient payments.Correcting errors from the claim audit queues
· Quickly follow up on unpaid claims
· Handling of patient phone calls pertaining to billing and statements
· Printing and processing his patient statements, collection letters, and paper HCFA’s
· Submission of electronic claims
· Working with the insurance companies
· Monthly reports and quarterly financial analysis reporting

Ease, Efficiency and Manageability

Immediately, Dr. Klein experienced an increase in revenue. Origin was collecting more and collecting it faster. Soon after making the change, 65% of his claims were being paid within 30 days.

While their charges were down around 5% in 2008 from 2007, their payments still
increased by 25% (about $773,500 for the year). They had less visits, but collected more money!

No longer was he worried about learning the billing process and keeping up with
the changing regulations. His mind was put at ease since he was not hampered by tracking down delayed payments or having “things fall through the cracks like they used to.”

Since implementing Origin RCM service, Dr. Klein describes his practice as “more
of a turn-key operation”. The transition was easy, with just a few minor changes
needed. He opened a new bank account and Origin changed the addresses for their
receivables. That was it. The rest was flawlessly taken care of by Origin
Healthcare Solutions.

“It was a worthwhile endeavor to make the move,” Dr. Klein mentioned. “It is nice
to know there’s a company with experience and trained personnel to do the job
while increasing my revenue.”

Certain Recommendation

Above all, Dr. Klein would “definitely recommend” Origin to other offices that are
contemplating the move but may be afraid to take that step. He made sure to point
out that he is “really happy with the service” that is offered by Origin and that it is
a very easy transition. The whole implementation of the service makes it “one less
thing to worry about.” He has had no complaints or qualms regarding the service
he has received. “Offices may not know how well they have a handle on [it] until
they move,” Dr. Klein admitted.
