New Features Coming Soon

By Brenda Millar

PBI is scheduled to release version 4.7.9010 as well as version 5.0.20093 of the PresentationCenter in the 4th Quarter of 2009. This release will include several significant new features as well as performance improvements to enhance the end user’s experience. Below are just some of the exciting new features in these two upcoming releases:

Selective Subtotals

When creating an analysis in the ad hoc module, the user can selectively add subtotals to the row or column dimensions desired. This gives the user additional flexibility as compared to previous releases, in which it was either add or remove all subtotals.

Subtotals

Linked Group Maximum Dimensions Raised to 25

In previous releases the maximum number of dimensions that could be used in a linked group was five. Our development team has implemented changes to now accommodate up to 25 dimensions.

Link Groups

Linked Group Processing

A new enhancement, implemented in conjunction with raising the number of linked groups dimensions, is a more streamlined method of processing the data. On occasion bottlenecks occurred in the linking stage of processing. The processing itself has now been moved to SQL Server. This greatly improves the performance on linked groups.

Caching/Architecture Changes

Changes are being implemented that should help to reduce the ‘Out of Memory’ error while saving large results sets in version 4. This enhancement will also improve both the dashboard update and load times for both version 4 and the PresentationCenter PACs.

We will be offering two free web sessions in the 4th quarter to review our latest software features. Please see the training schedule under ‘PBI 4th Quarter Web Training’ section of this newsletter.
