Origin strives to deliver superior service and products to its clients.  With new initiatives bestowed upon us by the Federal Government, Origin at times must retire current technology in order to support a more robust and secure computing environment.  CMS is currently in the process of implementing the next version of the HIPAA Transaction 835 standard – referred to as 835v5010.  In order to be compliant with this next HIPAA standard, we must move to a new software platform to accommodate claim field changes and requirements.  As we prepare for Meaningful Use and other reporting initiatives required by the Federal Government, we have begun to lean on the latest development tools available from Microsoft.  This technology will support the security and transport requirements defined by current and future regulations.  Also looming in the not-so-distant future is ICD-10 requirements.  In order for our practices to meet these technological requirements, all clients will be required to upgrade. We ask that all clients schedule an installation as soon as possible.

Current product expiration

We will determine and notify you of the timeframe in which we will continue to support the current product suite. However, please keep in mind the timeline will be dictated by the first Government required implementation date of 5010.

What’s in it for you?

Origin provides software solutions that encompass state of the art methodologies for patient and staff interactions and workflow, resource tracking, follow up, claims processing and collection efficiencies.  When your practice converts to this new platform, you will still retain the software products you use daily. Additional functionality will become available that may help improve efficiencies.

Upgrade workflow options

The following options are available. Determine the option that is best for your practice:

  • Option A – Complete Electronic.  Uses Patient Flow to check patients in, create an encounter for use with an electronic superbill, posting co-pays and past balances at check in and/or check out, and uses credit card processing (optional).
  • Option B – Hybrid Electronic.  Uses Patient Flow for all co-pay entries and a paper superbill for charge entry. Credit card processing (optional) in Patient Flow.
  • Option C – Complete Paper.  Uses legacy check-in and paper superbills.
